Answering Your Gardening Questions
Yesterday Marianne said that “beasties have been feasting” on her tomatoes, broccoli and cabbage. She has the dreaded GROUNDHOG (also known as a woodchuck or whistle-pig). She is using cayenne pepper hoping to repel this hungry, fat, chubby, plump, stout, rotund, round, chunky, portly, paunchy, bulky, corpulent GROUNDHOG!
She asked if I had any ideas.
My response:
I really hate it when GROUNDHOGS come in and feast on my garden. They are very difficult to control. You have several options starting with the most effective. 1. Build a secure fence. 2. Trap and eliminate them, or 3. Use repellents.
The cayenne can help but wind and rain very easily wash it away but it can have some good effects if you do it consistently. I have problems with deer, groundhogs and raccoon. I have a fence which has helped with the deer although they are very good at finding ways in. A product that I have used with decent success is called Repels-All. I prefer the granulated application so I control exactly where I want it to go. It has long lasting effects. It is a safe, environmentally friendly product. You should be able to find it locally but if you want to purchase it online you can use my affiliate link here: http://amzn.to/1QqMylu
Best of luck!
